I’ve decided to try and make this post a one-stop-shop for everything you’ll need to know before setting out on the Lost Coast Trail to help get you hiking!
So a weekend or two ago I got to take a trip on one of the coolest trails I’d never heard of. Once you inevitably decide you have to hike this trail head over to Appalachian Trials if you haven’t already to learn everything you need to know to go hike the Lost Coast Trail as soon as possible
It seems that incidents of the lovingly named Deer Tick Virus are on the rise in eastern New York. The virus has been detected in some ticks found near the AT.
I’ve gathered here a list of what I think are some of the most popular hiker traditions found along the Appalachian Trail. It’s true not every hiker participates in these (I certainly didn’t), but that doesn’t make them any less amazing. Some of the traditions may seem fairly obvious, but for those new to the Appalachian Trail, you may consider partaking in a few of them on your own thru-hike experience. (nudge, nudge)
The Appalachian Trail: Pennsylvania - Part 2
By this point Rocksylvania is in full swing. In addition to the ankle-biters you’ve got the heat and mosquitoes beginning to bear down on the hiker masses. Fortunately for the remainder of the state towns become fairly close together providing much needed safe havens for both mental and physical recuperation.
How well do you know the Appalachian Trail? You thru-hikers in the crowd probably think you know the AT like the back of your dirty, mud-stained hands. After taking those five million steps can you recall the many incredibly minute factoids about where you spent six months of your life, or is everything some sort of green blur? Either way my mission here is to expand your knowledge of the trail with a great big pile of useless fascinating facts! By the time you’re done reading this you’ll be a veritable rock-star of AT trivia. New to the trail? Don’t worry. I’ve broken things down into three levels. Facts will increase in wonderment as levels go up. So just to make sure everyone is up to speed lets start with quick session of Appalachian Trail 101…
I’ve got a new post up on AppalachianTrials.com!
